POF traffic is touted as the easiest/friendliest traffic sources available to performance marketers today, and with their ever expanding targeting options they’re trying to keep it that way. But with all those targeting options, figuring out where to start and what to monitor can be a hassle.

  • Garry, small ads are 310×110 and IAB ads are just larger banners: 300×250, 160×600, 728×90. PP ads are “Profile Ads”. They’re the same size as IAB, except they allow you to target the profiles it shows up on instead of the user who is currently browsing. For example, you can put a specific ad on Christian profiles instead of targeting the Chrisitan user who is browsing.

  • Amazing infographic. Now I know to focus more on running small ads. I am going to be starting all over with POF as a beginner. I was trying it over a year ago, but stopped for personal reasons. Would you say it is difficult for a beginner with a very limited budget to become profitable with POF? Any recommended traffic sources for a budget of about $4000 – 5000?

  • Hey, thanks! I’d say with that kind of budget, POF is about the best place to start. Get our free Mastery Guide as a part of http://www.pofpro.com trial. Just follow the guide and it should get you a loong ways. And the software will let you skip all the technical bullsh*t. We’ve had a lot of posts on POF case studies and overall performance marketing. Sometimes people don’t look at the free stuff as much but I can say that we try as hard to provide the most useful tips on our blog posts as well. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the reply Tom. I will go with POF as my starting traffic source. I will try out POFPro once I get my VPS upgraded. Meantime I can look at all your free resources. Cheers!

  • Thanks for this post. I’m getting going on POF, running into a couple of issues. Does your free trial into your pofpro really help with those getting started to maximize even the smallest budget. I’ve known that networks shave like hell also, so is there a better way to get conversions using this type of traffic on offers?

  • You’re welcome. Yeah, we have a lot of newbies on the platform. Some who have been with us from the beginning are now doing steady mid-$xxx/day spends. The thing is it takes away all the time consuming and technical frustrations of manual labor and makes the whole learning curve a whole lot faster and easier. We have a lot of newbies, but we also have high spenders spending 4-figures per day, so it’s a software that people are taking advantage no matter where they’re at in terms of POF. Just give it a try and you’ll see!
